ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú’s Psychology curriculum provides a broad foundation in the scientific study of behavior and mental processes while allowing students to pursue areas of individual interest. Majors complete courses across the discipline — including biological, cognitive, developmental, clinical, and social psychology — along with training in statistics and research methods. Students can also explore interdisciplinary connections through electives or add a neuroscience minor to deepen their understanding of the links between biology and psychology.

John Baley is the director of psychology at the Black Mountain Neuromedical Treatment Center and the managing attorney at a boutique law firm in Asheville, NC. His work focuses on supporting improved behavioral health and social equity for everyone, particularly historically underserved populations.

Kylee Frye serves as the Resiliency Coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County, working as an advocate promoting youth mental health, integrating mental health services for Boys and Girls Club members and providing education, training, and support to staff, families, and the community.

Mx. Tuesday Feral (they/them) is a business owner and a licensed counselor in private practice in Western North Carolina. For 10 years they served as the founding director of the support programs at Tranzmission, a non-profit that serves nonbinary and transgender people.

PAL Lecture Series

The Psychology And Life (PAL) Lecture Series at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú brings students together with professionals, scholars, and practitioners from a variety of psychology-related fields. Through engaging talks and interactive discussions, students gain insight into real-world applications of psychological theory, explore career paths, and connect classroom learning with current issues in the discipline. The series includes lectures, films, and related events held throughout each semester.

The Psych Club at ÿÈÕ´óÈüÈë¿Ú offers students a fun, supportive, and academically focused community for exploring their interest in psychology. Established in 1929, Psi Chi recognizes and promotes excellence in scholarship while advancing the science of psychology, and provides opportunities to plan and host psychology-related events on campus, connect with peers, and engage with faculty and staff outside the classroom. These activities foster networking, leadership, and collaboration while building a stronger connection to the discipline.

Students who wish to take their involvement further may join Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.. Membership offers additional opportunities for academic growth, professional development, and recognition.
